“After obtaining my CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, I moved to Zambia to join the Coopers & Lybrand (Presently known as Price Waterhouse Coopers) as an Assistant Audit Manager. After serving four years at PWC, I joined Aon Zambia as a CFO in Zambia. In 2013 I moved to Canada, however, as a new immigrant to Canada, I faced challenges of Canadian experience and education recognition until I Knew about the Society of Professional Accountants of Canada. After taking courses in Corporate and Personal tax I achieved RPA designation. After getting my RPA designation my life changed and I managed to join an Accounting Firm in the Niagara Region to gain Canadian experience. You can get an RPA designation and be eligible to work as an accountant in Canada quickly if you have already obtained a designation abroad, all you need is to prove your designation and take some tax courses at a recognized college or university.
