Algoma University and the Registered Professional Accountant of Canada (RPA) have signed a MoU.

 

Algoma University and the Registered Professional Accountant of Canada (RPA) have signed a memorandum of understanding signifying a pivotal milestone as The Society of Professional Accountants of Canada accredits Algoma University’s accounting program for RPA prerequisite courses.
“This MOU signifies a robust partnership aimed at fostering excellence in the field of accounting education and encouraging the next generation of accounting professionals to pursue RPA designation. It is a testament to our shared commitment to the highest standards of integrity, competence, and ethical behavior in the accounting profession,” said Zubair Choudhry, RPA, APA, President & CEO of RPA Canada addressing the audience after signing the important MoU.

“What an opportunity for both organizations, I think that is the beauty of both partnerships such as one of which we are signing today. It benefits both groups, I think for RPA, it brings some of our very talented graduates and students to start developing their expertise in the field, and for Algoma, it was the best partner that we can have in Canada.,” said Asima Vezina, and President addressing at the MoU signing ceremony at Algoma University, Brampton Campus.

Dean William X. Wei, Faculty of Business and Economics is delighted with the signing of this agreement, as Algoma U accounting graduates will be fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to take the Mandatory Professional Exams (MPE) and obtain their RPA designation. In addition to the RPA, Algoma U’s accounting program provides students with a pathway into various accounting career prospects, including the opportunity to pursue other renowned designations after graduation, such as the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation.

Mr. Sheref Sabawy, MPP and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism said that this Memorandum of Understanding is a win – win – win for accounting students, RPA Canada, and Algoma University. I am glad to witness this noble MoU signing ceremony. He presented the appreciation certificates from the Government of Ontario to Mr. Zubair Choudhry, RPA, APA, President of RPA Canada, and Vice-Chancellor Asima Vezina, President of Algoma University.

The Faculty of Business and Economics is also pleased to announce the start of recruiting three Ph.Ds in accounting who will join the faculty this year.

Algoma University is bridging between academic excellence and real-world application, ensuring that the institute’s graduates are not just job-ready, but also poised to make a meaningful impact in their chosen fields.
