PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT

eNewsletter – May 2020

PRESIDENT’S  NOTE

Dear RPA Members and Students,

I hope you and your family are safe and in good health.  I know it is very
difficult to stay home during lockdown for such a long time.  This lockdown
has its plus and minus, and thanks God it is at tail end now. Soon when it
will be over, it will change the way we live and conduct our businesses. I
strongly recommend that you take advantage of this lockdown to learn and to
adopt to new reality, use of technology, virtual offices, online ordering
and at the door delivery.

The Society of Professional Accountants of Canada is already adopting the
new technologies to serve the profession, our members and the students. We
have tested and will be holding our board meetings on Zoom.  Our next board
of directors meeting will be held online on Thursday May 21 using Zoom
platform. We intend to open these board meetings to our members in good
standing those who are interested must register in advance as participants
only.

All our CPD courses and seminars will be held through webinar.  We held our
first webinar, “how to become RPA” presented by Mike Saniga, MBA. CPA;
Director of Engagement and Learning Innovation of RPA Canada and it was a
big success and well attended.  Those who missed this important webinar can
watch on RPA’s YouTube channel.  Board of Directors will review the plan to
hold our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Small Business Week
Celebration online through Zoom. This will increase the attendance and
active participation from our members who were not able to attend our AGM in
past due to traveling distance.

Please note, our office is moving to a new and central location at 48
Village Center Place, Suite 101, Mississauga, Ontario effective July 1
(Canada Day). All our telephone, fax, toll free number, email, website,
social media will remain the same and upgraded for quick response and
efficiency.

I will strongly encourage all our members and students to stay in touch with
your Society and come forward to assist in moving forward the Society and
accounting profession. Remember Society’s office and your board members are
only phone call away.

I appreciate those who have contributed and assisted their families,
clients, community and the profession during this public health crisis and
tough economic times.

Stay home and be well, help our country to end the lockdown soon.

Zubair Choudhry, RPA, APA

President
